Summer of ’17 busiest in recent memory

Summer construction projects in the metro area are affecting all modes of transportation and are expected to continue to cause challenges through August.

Minnesota Valley Transportation Authority routes are not immune.

About 40 percent of MVTA bus routes are currently operating on detour routes. The majority of the bus routes currently using detours are express routes to Minneapolis.

Starting this week, passengers are unable to board buses using the Gateway Ramp, 400 S. 3rd Street, Minneapolis, as a result of construction work. This closure is expected to last through late August.  MVTA passengers are directed to board at “C” stop groups on Marquette Avenue.

The MVTA asks passengers for their patience while the busy construction season continues.

MVTA’s top priority is the safety of passengers. With all of the construction activity it makes it difficult to maintain schedule times and riders are asked to plan accordingly. MTVA thanks everyone for their patience during this time.

Route 436, which serves Thomson Reuters, has been especially affected by construction with buses delayed by 10 to 20 minutes in the late afternoons.

MTVA apologizes for the inconvenience, which all motorists are currently experiencing.

Riders can sign up for the latest route alerts from MVTA at https://www.mvta.com/route-alerts.
