The generosity of south metro residents helped Minnesota Valley Transit Authority and Schmitty & Sons Transit donate more than 3,400 pounds of food and $1,500 to Dakota County and Scott County food shelves during the eighth Stuff the Bus Collection.
Stuff the Bus was around south metro communities from Dec. 2 through Dec. 15 to support food shelves. Local Cub, Hy-Vee, Lunds & Byerly’s, and Fresh Thyme Market stores supported the effort.
The food and cash donations were delivered to the 360 Communities and CAP Agency food shelves.
“Staff at MVTA and Schmitty & Sons appreciate the opportunity to support local food shelves during a time of high need,” said MVTA Planning and Public Outreach Manager Joya Stetson . “We are thankful for the generosity of local residents for helping make the collection a success.”
CAP Agency’s Food Shelf in Shakopee provides immediate food and resources to individuals and families to bridge them through difficult times and help them reach self-sufficiency.
360 Communities serves more than 10,000 people annually with emergency food at food shelves in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Farmington, Lakeville, and Rosemount.
